Notion to Mailchimp: send campaigns straight from Notion
Nocadi connects Notion to Mailchimp: every page in your Notion campaigns database becomes a branded draft campaign in your Mailchimp account, and a single status change tests, schedules or sends it. Connect Mailchimp with one click, pick an audience or tag in Notion, and read opens and clicks in the same row afterwards.
How it works
From a Notion page to a Mailchimp campaign
Log in to Mailchimp once. After that, everything happens in Notion.
Log in to Mailchimp once
Connect Notion, then approve Nocadi on Mailchimp's own login page. There is no API key to find or paste. Attach your campaigns database and the columns are added for you.
Pick an audience, set Ready to send
Choose a Mailchimp audience, tag or saved segment in 📨 Audience and set Ready to send. The Mailchimp draft keeps up with every edit to the page.
Send it, read the report in Notion
Check it in your own inbox, then set Send to audience. Opens, clicks, unsubscribes and bounces arrive in the row.
How to connect Notion to Mailchimp
Mailchimp connects through its own login screen (OAuth), so there is no API key to generate, copy or keep safe. On Nocadi's Connections page, choose Mailchimp, name the connection and set the default sender name and email. Click Connect with Mailchimp, log in and approve access.
Before that, connect Notion and share the database that holds your campaigns, allowing Update content. When you attach it, Nocadi adds the 📨 columns it needs and loads your Mailchimp audiences, tags and saved segments into the 📨 Audience drop-down. Existing columns are reused and nothing is deleted. The setup guide has a screenshot of each step.
Which Mailchimp audience, tag or segment gets the campaign?
A Mailchimp campaign belongs to exactly one audience (Mailchimp's name for a list), so on Mailchimp the 📨 Audience column takes one pick per campaign. That pick can be a whole audience, or a single tag or saved segment inside it to reach part of a list.
With one Mailchimp audience, tags and saved segments appear under their own names. With several, each option starts with the audience name and ends in (tag) or (segment), so a VIP tag in two audiences can't be mixed up. Choose two options for a Mailchimp campaign and Nocadi stops with a note in 📨 Result rather than quietly sending to the first one only.
What happens to recipients I change inside Mailchimp?
They stay. A content sync never touches a Mailchimp campaign's recipients unless you change 📨 Audience in Notion. The email itself works the other way round: the Notion page is the source, so the next sync replaces edits made in Mailchimp's campaign editor.
Mailchimp merge tags, written in Notion
Type {{ first_name }} in Notion and Nocadi converts it to Mailchimp's *|FNAME|* when it saves the draft. The same tokens work in the subject line, preview text, headings, paragraphs, list items and button labels.
| Write in Notion | Mailchimp receives |
|---|---|
{{ first_name }} | *|FNAME|* |
{{ last_name }} | *|LNAME|* |
{{ full_name }} | *|FNAME|* *|LNAME|* |
{{ email }} | *|EMAIL|* |
One difference from MailerLite: Mailchimp ignores fallbacks. {{ first_name | there }} becomes a plain *|FNAME|*, so a subscriber with no first name sees a blank. Unknown tokens, and tokens broken up by bold or italic formatting, stop the sync with a message in 📨 Result. The guide lists every personalization variable.
Mailchimp footer, unsubscribe link and branding
Nocadi switches off Mailchimp's automatic footer on each campaign it creates and uses yours: footer text, mailing address, social links and Mailchimp's *|UNSUB|* unsubscribe link. Nocadi checks that the link made it into the final HTML before saving a draft, so no campaign reaches Mailchimp without one.
The rest of the look comes from a theme (logo, brand name, colors, fonts, alignment) picked per campaign in 📨 Theme, so a newsletter and a launch announcement can look different while sharing one footer. Mailchimp gets both the HTML email and a plain-text version built from the same Notion page.
Send test emails and schedule Mailchimp campaigns from Notion
Set 📨 Status to Send test and the rendered email goes to whoever changed the status. Nocadi uses Mailchimp's own test email on a temporary copy of the campaign, marked [TEST] and deleted straight afterwards, so your real draft and your audience are never touched.
When it looks right, set Send to audience. To send later, fill in 📨 Send at first. Mailchimp only schedules on the quarter hour, so Nocadi rounds your time up to the next :00, :15, :30 or :45 (a 9:05 send goes out at 9:15, never early). Times are UTC unless the Notion date has a time zone. Optional team approvals hold the send until enough teammates sign off, and a campaign never reaches the same audience twice. See the status flow.
Mailchimp reports, written back into Notion
Once the campaign goes out, Nocadi reads its Mailchimp report and fills the stats columns on the Notion row: recipients (emails sent), delivered, unique opens, open rate, unique clicks, click rate, unsubscribes and bounces (hard plus soft). Mailchimp has no delivered figure of its own, so Nocadi shows emails sent minus bounces.
Nocadi keeps refreshing those numbers for 30 days and stamps 📨 Stats updated whenever they change, so you can sort by click rate and spot which subject lines worked without opening Mailchimp.
Nocadi vs Zapier, Make or copy-paste for Mailchimp
You can also move a Notion draft into Mailchimp with an automation tool, or by hand. The differences show up after the first send.
| Nocadi | Zapier or Make | Copy-paste | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Connecting | One-click Mailchimp login | Set up inside the automation tool | Nothing to connect |
| Email design | Your theme applied to Notion blocks | HTML you template yourself | Rebuilt in Mailchimp's editor |
| Recipients | Audience, tag or segment drop-down in Notion | Set per workflow | Picked in Mailchimp |
| Test email | One status in Notion | Another step to build | Sent from Mailchimp |
| Results | Back in the Notion row | Needs its own workflow | Stay in Mailchimp |
| Cost | €5 a month | Priced by your automation plan | Your time |
Choose Zapier or Make when a Notion change must reach many apps at once. For campaigns written in Notion and sent through Mailchimp, a purpose-built connection means fewer moving parts.
